Shameik Moore (Baz Luhrmann’s 'The Get Down') is Malcolm Adekanbi, a straight-A student who is coming to terms with the fact he still might not make it into Harvard. He's picked on at school, loves hip-hop and is in band with his nerdy friends.

He's almost made it through school, when there's an unlikely invitation to a drug dealer's party. It's crashed, and he and his friends are left holding a backpack stash of drugs.
Did he actually say 'I'll kill you and your friends' if you don't get rid of these drugs, or just you?
Dope also stars Tony Revolori (The Grand Budapest Hotel), Kiersey Clemons ('Transparent'), Blake Anderson ('Workaholics'), Zoë Kravitz (X-Men: First Class), A$AP Rocky and Chanel Iman.

Directed by Rick Famuyiwa, produced by Forest Whitaker - the film also features four new songs by Pharrell Williams who is executive producer.

A huge success at this year's Sundance, Cannes and Sydney film festivals, Dope is also screening at the Melbourne International Film Festival, July 30 – August 16 2015.

The film opens in cinemas August 20 2015.
