When and where to watch the inauguration of President Trump

Hundreds of thousands of jubilant Americans – and many angry protesters – are expected to gather at the National Mall in Washington D.C. this Friday to witness Donald Trump sworn in as the 45th president of the United States.

The inauguration of President Donald Trump will be broadcast live into Australia on Saturday morning from 3:30am AEDST on SBS.

Trump will be arriving at Washington DC's National Mall after a traditional meeting with the departing President, Barack Obama, in the White House.

The White House will also live-stream the event online.

Incoming vice president Mike Pence will be sworn in at 3:45am with Mr Trump set to take the oath of office at 4am AEDST.

Defeated rival Hillary Clinton and former president Bill Clinton are expected to be present, as will Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

At 4:10am President Trump will deliver his Inaugural Address, expected to run approximately 20 minutes.

Barack Obama and Joe Biden will be escorted out by the new President and Vice President.

An Inaugural lunch will then be held.

The Inaugural Parade will be broadcast from 3:30am, running from Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House, where President Trump and Vice President Pence will be cheered (and jeered) as supporters and protestors line the route.
