Wild Reeds review

The performances of the four young leads are the key to the success of the film, it's also beautifully written by Téchiné, Oliver Massart and Gilles Taurand, and luminously shot by cinematographer Jeanne Lapoirie. Téchinée's achievement with this film is that the personal experiences of these four illuminates not just their own struggles to reach an adult identity, but the national consciousness. A fine film, well-deserving of its Best Picture, Director, Screenplay and Young Actress awards at the French Oscars, the Césars.
