The producers of Wimbledon are the same guys who brought us Notting Hill and Bridget Jones? Diary, which starred the reigning king of British romantic comedy, Hugh Grant. Fortunately, Paul Bettany is less foppish and awkward than Grant, which makes him more charming and easy to watch. However, even with Pat Cash?s help and special effects, neither Bettany nor Kirsten Dunst manage to look like believable tennis professionals. And yes ? the plot is predictable and the script clich?d - but this doesn?t really matter. Wimbledon is a harmless, squeaky-clean and likeable film.
