Bulgaria and Russia must be open and honest with each other, was the conclusion after Bulgarian President Rumen Radev met his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Sochi.
"The purpose of my visit is to reinstate the dialogue at the highest level after a multi-year interruption", President Radev said, who was glad to visit Russia on the eve of the Day of Bulgarian Education and Culture and the Slavonic Scriptures - May 24th."Even more joyful is that our peoples together celebrate this holiday. Together, we mark one anniversary - 140 years since the Liberation of Bulgaria and the Russo-Turkish War, thanks to which Bulgaria rose on the map of Europe," Radev said.In his words, relations between Bulgaria and Russia are peculiar and not based on purely political and economic interests, but on deep historical, spiritual, cultural and linguistic ties.
It appears, though, that during the visit there were more pressing matters. By the end of June, the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy must provide Russia with the various options for using the Belene NPP equipment was written in a summary of the talks between Putin and his Bulgarian counterpart.
It means that virtually Russia is pressing Bulgaria to make a quick decision on the future of Belene NPP – a project to which the Bulgarian government gave green light to be managed in the Parliament and eventually thawed.
