33-year old Sam Abraham was found dead in his Epping home in Melbourne in October 2015. Initially it was thought to be a natural death due to heart attack.

But, when an autopsy report revealed that Sam died of cyanide poisoning, Victoria police started investigation with the help of covert operatives.

Covert operatives followed both Sofia and Arun Kamalasanan for months to gather evidence before recording their arrest.

While hearing the jury verdict, Ms Sam cried in the court room, whie Mr. Kamalasanan heard it without showing any emotions.

The case will be mentioned in the court on 21 March again, for pre-sentence hearing.

In the 14-day long trial the prosecution argued that both the accused had entered into an agreement or understanding to kill Sam Abraham, with an aim to live together in the future.

The prosecution said that the accused were having a love affair and produced their diary notes as evidence.

“Can you hold me tight? I want to drift away in your love,” the prosecutor read out from Sofia's diary in the court room.

Police have found evidence of their meetings after the death of Sam, and pointed that they had had a joint bank account for a few years before the murder.

Prosecution produced video recordings of the conversation between Arun Kamalasanan and covert operatives, in which he had admitted to committing the murder and had drawn a detailed sketch of how he had entered the victim's home and poisoned him.

Both the accused pleaded not guilty and rejected all the evidences. But the jury, after deliberating for four days, have found them guilty of murder.
