Souths won't suspend Auva'a over charge

South Sydney say they've already taken action against a young player who pleaded guilty to charges of recklessly causing injury and criminal damage.

South Sydney say they've already taken action against centre Kirisome Auva'a over charges of recklessly causing injury and criminal damage and there are no plans to stand him down from Monday night's NRL clash against St George Illawarra.

Auva'a appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday, pleading guilty to the charges arising from an incident in January.

Once informed by the player, the Rabbitohs say they reported the incident to the NRL's Integrity United immediately on January 18 and stood the 22-year-old down from all club duties for a week and issued him with a $2000 fine.

The court heard an alcohol-affected Auva'a had been at a friend's wedding in Melbourne in January when he arrived at his ex-girlfriend's home and allegedly became violent in a fit of jealous rage where he also damaged property.

A Victim Impact Statement from Auva'a's victim was read to the court and reported by News Corp.

"I am still so hurt and confused how someone I thought honestly loved me could hurt me the way he did," the woman said.

Auva'a, who was previously with the Melbourne Storm, made his NRL debut for South Sydney earlier this year and scored a try in the Rabbitohs' 18-0 win over Cronulla on Monday night.

News Corp reported that Auva'a's lawyer advised the court that the NRL player had a tough upbringing and suffered from depression, but was offering no excuses for the outburst.

Magistrate Kate Hawkins adjourned the hearing for six months and ordered Auva'a to take part in a weekly change in behaviour course and work with White Ribbon as an ambassador to help combat violence against women.

He will reappear on November 7.

South Sydney said in a statement that Auva'a and the club supported the magistrate's recommendations and would follow the instructions.
