A hand-forged replica of Ned Kelly's suit of armour has been sold in an eBay auction fundraiser for Victorian independent senator John Madigan.
The suit sold on Friday for $2425 after 55 bids.
The Ballarat-based former blacksmith told AAP a previous suit made by him eight years ago sold for $4000 and the auction selling price was an indication of how tough times were for many Australians.
He said all of the money would go towards his "bare bones" election campaign and the stunt had attracted plenty of attention.
