International air passengers are being advised to factor in extra time due to a 24-hour strike at airports across the country.
Department of Immigration and Border Protection staff will strike from midnight on Friday for 24 hours as part of a plan by the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) to resolve enterprise bargaining.
A one-hour stop-work meeting has also been planned for CPSU members in the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, including quarantine and biosecurity at airports.
"This strike ... reflects the frustration that continues to grow across the Commonwealth public sector," CPSU National Secretary Nadine Flood said in a statement released on Thursday.
"These people have been fighting for more than two years now as the Turnbull Government's sought to strip their rights, conditions and take-home pay."
Ms Flood and several union members will discuss the strike at Sydney International Airport on Friday morning.
""Across the public service ... more than 100,000 workers and their families have now gone three years without a pay rise while struggling to hold on to basic workplace rights and conditions, particularly the ones that allow them to balance work with family commitments," she said.
The CPSU has written to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull seeking an urgent meeting.
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection has been notified of the strike.
