SBS Radio’s service to African Australian communities began with an African program in English.

Over the years, SBS has added specific African languages to its schedule of services. From 20 November 2017, SBS Radio will service six African languages including AmharicTigrinyaSomaliSwahiliDinka and launching shortly Kirundi (Rundi). As such, the decision has been made to discontinue the SBS African (in English) language program.

In addition to these dedicated language programs, SBS continues to support newly arrived African communities who need information in English with the SBS Settlement Guide and VIVA series which are available online at http://www.sbs.com.au/radio/settlement-guide and http://www.sbs.com.au/radio/subject/sbs-viva.

SBS VICELAND will continue to broadcast the African English News on Wednesdays at 10.30am, with catch up via SBS On Demand.

SBS would like to thank the community for supporting the SBS African (in English) service over many years.
