News bulletin in Arabic for this morning

Former Prime Minister Tony Abbot says the government's new panel monitoring medical transfers of asylum seekers from regional detention undermines Australia’s entire offshore processing regime.

The five-member panel will include nominees from both the Commonwealth and the Australian Medical Association.

If the panel is unsatisfied with a decision of a medical transfer, it will report to the federal government and explain why it is unsatisfied.

The ultimate decision, however, remains with the government. Mr Abbot has told Macquarie Radio he doesn’t support the idea.
