News bulletin in Arabic for the day

It's now up to the Queensland Labor government to sign off on two key environmental approvals for Adani's to begin digging its controversial coal mine.

The company's revised plan for managing groundwater at its Carmichael mine has been given the green light by federal Environment Minister Melissa Price.

Ms Price says science agencies the C-S-I-R-O and Geoscience Australia have confirmed Adani's proposal meets strict scientific and environmental requirements.

Nine plans still require either federal or state government approvals, but construction will be held up if the Queensland government doesn't approve the groundwater plan and another plan to manage an endangered bird known as the Black-Throated Finch.

Energy Minister Angus Taylor has welcomed Ms Price's decision, as did Nationals M-P Barnaby Joyce in an interview with S-B-S.
