Adani wins vital approval for Queensland mine

The boss of Adani says the company has safeguards in place to protect the habitat of the black-throated finch as part of its Queensland coal mine plans.

The Queensland Environment Department has approved Adani's management plan for the bird meaning its Carmichael mine project is now a step closer.

The mine site has a significant bird population and Adani's chief executive Lucas Dow says there will be a 33 thousand hectare conservation area for the endangered finch.
