News bulletin of the morning

The Australian Federal Police are investigating the leaking of a secret ASIO (Australian Security Intelligence Organisation) briefing that warned any move to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel could provoke unrest and violence in the Palestinian territories.

Fairfax Media is reporting the Federal Government believes a state Labor government leaked the briefing note from Australia's spy agency to The Guardian news website.

ASIO says its head, Duncan Lewis, has spoken to Federal Police boss Andrew Colvin and formally referred the matter to the police for investigation.

The Victorian Government has denied it was responsible for the leak.
