The Federal Government has confirmed it has now resettled everyone in its 12,000 emergency humanitarian places program, that was announced in 2015. Most of those have come from Syria and Iraq. Settlement Services International (SSI) is the state-wide umbrella organisation for 11 Migrant Resource Centres and Multicultural Services across NSW. It helps refugees and newcomers with a range of services including facilitating access to housing, health, banking, schools and information about Centrelink. SSI says funding of $146 million over four years was set aside by the NSW State Government in last year’s Budget to help Syrian and Iraqi refugees start a new life in NSW. Manal Al-Ani spoke to SSI settlement manager Yamamah Agha for the latest on the so-called 'Syrian intake.'
