وترأس Aristotle هيئة استشارية في العام 2012 التي أوصت حينها الحكومةً الفيدرالية بمراجعة مراكز احتجاز جزيرتي مانوس وناورو في بابو نيو غيني
وقال Aristotle لشبكة ABC الإخبارية ان مراكز الاحتجاز تتسبب بأضرارِ نفسية مستمرة للمحتجزين.. وتؤدي أيضا إلى الانتحار.. لذا يجب عدم استخدامها كوسيلة لردع مهربي البشر، على حدِ قوله

"While we have to deal with people smuggling and the government has been doing that, we also then can't resort to strategies ultimately that enable refugee children, women and men to be used as some form of a human shield against people smuggling when, in fact, if we require a shield of that nature we should leave that up the Australian Border Force, our navy, the Australian Federal Police and our intelligence services to perform that sort of a function."
