Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is in Tokyo today (Jan 18) for annual leaders' talks with his counterpart Shinzo Abe.

Mr Turnbull says security will dominate the one day visit, given the North Korean nuclear threat and China's maritime assertiveness.

The Prime Minister says he and his Japanese counterpart will also discuss ways to revive the stalled Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade deal.
