News bulletin of the day in Arabic

Wife of jailed Australian refugee Hakeem Al-Araibi has written to Thailand's government pleading for them to reject Bahrain's extradition order and let him return to Australia.

In her letter she told Thailand's Prime Minster her husband would be tortured and likely murdered if he is made to return to Bahrain.

Ms Al-Araibi who saught asylum in Australia, flew to Bangkok for a vacation with his wife and was arrested upon landing by Thai authorities because of a red Interpol notice submitted by the Bahraini government.

Bahrain accuses the footballer of vandalising a police station in the 2011 Arab Spring uprising - an offence they want him to serve 10 years in jail for.

Mr Al-Araibi's lawyer Nadthasiri Bergman says her clients spirits are down, but they are hopeful the Thai government will let him return to Australia.
