Dr Bahia Abou Hamad had to leave her property in Menai south west of Sydney after the authorities urged residents to evacuate the area.

Dr Abou Hamad says the fire approached the residential areas so quickly that she had to leave her house on midday Sunday 15 April. She hopes to go back and find her double story house still standing, but she also warns of detrimental consequences if the fires reached the area where a nuclear facility exists.
