The Paper outlines Australia's plans to defend itself for the next 20 years. The third policy paper released since 2009 outlines boosting a maritime-focused military over the next decade, with 12 new submarines, nine frigates as 12 offshore patrol vessels. Extra funding has been allocated to land-based anti-ship missiles to be stationed in the country's north. And nine per cent of funding would go to hi-tech areas of electronic warfare and cyber capabilities. More about this issue, listen to this interview by Manal Al-Ani.
