Climate change Council: hot and dry Australia's weird winter

The Climate change council annual survey has found most Australians agree human activity is causing climate change, but less than one in five think the Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull is doing a good job tackling the problem globally.

Fairfax Media reports the poll shows eight in 10 people agree humans are contributing to climate change.

One in two also say it has already caused more extreme weather and damage to the Great Barrier Reef.

But only 18 per cent of respondents think the prime minister is effective in tackling it globally, with 41 per cent saying it is the federal government's role to be responsible for action on climate change.

Dr Jamal Rizk will tell us more.
