Hottest Day in Sydney for 80 Years

Sydney has endured its hottest day in 80 years with the high in Penrith reaching 47.3 degrees.


A severe fire danger rating has been issued for the greater Sydney region (Sunday) while much of the rest of the state has a "very high" rating.

The NSW Rural Fire Service has urged residents to prepare their bushfire plans.

Meanwhile, Bureau of Meteorology spokesman Andrew Haigh has told the A-B-C .. some relief is expected on the coast as a change comes through.
