How Australia invented "Flat White" coffee

Flat white is a coffee based drink with one shot of espresso and steamed milk. The Australian tale says it was originally invented in Sydney in the mid 80's. Canberra also claims the invention when flat white was originally marketed during a period of bad milk produce which prevented froth. Moreover, New Zealand claims it as invented in Wellington as a failed Cappuccino.
