The Iraqi Ambassador in Canberra Dr Hussain Mahdi Al-Ameri revealed that the Consul Mr Ahmed Karim visited Manus Detention centre about a month ago and witnessed the conditions of the refugees there. Dr Al Ameri also reveled that the Embassy refused an Australian demand to issue the Iraqi refugees travel documents to allow them to go back to Iraq, saying that could not happen without a written request by the refugees themselves, and a clear indication that they want to go back voluntarily.
