A young Iraqi man was on the invitation list of the Governor of Victoria HE Linda Dessau AC to meet and greet Prince Harry and his wife Megane during their visit to Australia.

Her Excellency The Honorable Linda Dessau AC held a reception for Victorian Youth Leaders at Government House in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Thursday 18 October 2018 to showcase their achievements and contributions to their communities.

Sarmad Alasadi is one of the young people who attended the reception and had the chance to talk to Prince Harry telling him about his background as an Iraqi young person who arrived to Australia when he was a child in 2003, and how he was able to settle with his family in the City of Shepperton in regional Victoria.

Sarmad is a young leader and an active member of the community in Shepperton. He  is the Secretary of an Iraqi organisation that support young Iraqis in the city, and a volunteer with the Red Cross's community awareness program about refugees.
