Donald Trump's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen claims the President directed hush payments to two women during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Cohen told the American ABC Mr Trump knew the alleged actions were wrong.
Cohen was sentenced to prison this week over campaign finance and other charges.
Mr Trump has denied alleged affairs with the women years ago and offered a shifting defence about the payments.
On Thursday, the president tweeted that he never directed Cohen to break the law.
