Is faster-than-expected population growth good for the economy?

Early this morning Australia's population hit a milestone - 24 million. While a newborn is likely to be the 24 millionth Australian, migrants have contributed the most to that growth in recent years. So is the faster-than-expected population growth good for the economy?
