The 2019 Fashions of Multicultural Australia showcases international, Indigenous Australian, migrant, and refugee designers in an exhibition of great cultural significance.

The festival presents artistic designs of individual artists and art works from countries where they oroginated from.

This year, the Egyptian Consulate in Sydney as well as jewellery designer Aida Guirguis are showing art pieces inspired by the long and rich Egyptian history and culture.

We spoke to Dr Heba Abed, wife of Egypt Consul General in Sydney Ambassador Yasser Abed about the role they play in promoting Egypt in Australia.

Aida Guirguis said that the grandeur, opulence and beauty of the antiquities of ancient Egypt have always found a resonance in her soul, and she feels a deep connection, and this heartfelt energy is always seeking expression through her work.

"I am inspired to create unique pieces of jewellery that may be simple in their outer form, yet contain an intricacy of inner form." "This is created through the use of colour with gemstones and diamonds, texture through various techniques, was always the play of light emanating from within."
