News bulletin in Arabic for the day

The Greens have reacted angrily to the government's decision to treat asylum seekers and refugees evacuated from Manus Island and Nauru for health reasons on Christmas Island, rather than mainland Australia.

Greens senator Nick McKim says the government is acting against the will of the parliament.

Officials on Christmas Island have questioned whether the island's hospital could provide the relevant treatment, given local residents are transferred to the mainland for specialised measures.

But Labor leader Bill Shorten says if the appropriate treatment is provided, he doesn't mind them being moved to Christmas Island.
