It's a small lake at the edge of Middle Island, the largest of 105 islands opposite the south coast of Western Australia.

The reason for the pink colour is the existence of Dunaliella Salina algae which causes also a high percentage of salt in the lake, making it impossilbe for fish to live in it. The lake was discovered by an English expedition lead by Matthew Flinders in 1892.
