The lawyer of Iraqi consul - general Anwar Alesi speaks out about the verdict. Lawyer Bahia Abu Hamed said the domestic worker got her full benefits according to contract. Abu Hamad said that the Australian embassy in the Philippines reviewed and approved the terms of this contract. the lawyer accused the worker of neglect saying she nearly got the consul son, who she was looking after, dead.

the Iraq's consul-general in Sydney was ordered to pay $20,000 to a Filipina worker the diplomat was found to be exploiting in "disgraceful" circumstances.
