11-year old boy Mehdi recently called into Arabic24's Good Morning Australia program, to introduce the show's audience to his "friend"; someone that has been living with him for the past 8 years, diabetes.

"I was 2 years old [when] we started to live together and now I am 11 years old," Medhi says.

"I want to tell the people who have diabetes, 'this is your friend, and you must take care of him'."

Mehdi's treatment of his "friend" varies depending on how he is feeling. He says, "If he is high [blood-sugar levels], don't give him sweets, and give him good healthy food."

Medhi confirms, "It is all from my doctor; he taught me how to be strong."

Arabic24 breakfast presenters Sylva and Ghassan were both moved by the boy's brave approach to treating a very dangerous disease.
