Morning News: govt says $100m raked back from welfare cheats

About two thirds of Newstart recipient remain on the payment for more than a year.

The federal government says more than one hundred million dollars has been raked back from welfare cheats.


The Dpertment of Human Services says it received more than ninety thousnad tip offs about welfare fraud, child support fraud, and Medicare in the 2018/2019 financial year.

 

That has led to 200 investigations, and forty-nine cases that are now before the courts.
