Hundreds of thousands of Australian families could be given a surprise tax bill
Newspaper reports say the Department of Human Services will check families' actual incomes against those they reported to the government in July 2018.
And childcare providers believe about one-third of the 1.1 million Australian families receiving the childcare subsidy could owe money.
A spokesman for the Department of Human Services says a range of repayment options will be available if people do owe money and some people could actually receive more money as part of the review.
