Victoria's First People's Assembly voting has opened, helping to guide Victoria to a treaty with Indigenous Victorians.

Aboriginal Victorians now have the chance to vote in an election of representatives for Victoria's First Peoples' Assembly.

Kicking off the start to NAIDOC week, the Assembly voting officially opened on Monday, allowing Aboriginal Victorians to choose which candidates best represent their voices.

The Assembly will be the country's first elected body of Aboriginal people, designed to help guide the future treaty process with Indigenous Victorians.

Voting has been made available for Aboriginal Victorians as young as 16, and can be done online, via post or in person during the two-week election.
