Scott Morrison leads Bill Shorten 45 to 32 per cent as the preferred Prime Minister in the latest Newspoll published by The Australian.

The coalition's vote lifted two points to 36 per cent in the poll while Labor's fell to 39.

The poll shows the coalition's primary vote has risen despite suffering its 41st consecutive loss to Labor in a Newspoll.
