News bulletin in Arabic for the day

Former foreign minister Julie Bishop has split with Scott Morrison over Australia's relationship with China.

Mr Morrison has told reporters Australia doesn't have to pick a side in the current trade dispute between the United States and China, describing China as a customer.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten objected to that and said Australia's leaders have to view China, and Asian countries more broadly, in a more complex way.

Ms Bishop, who is not contesting the election, has joined the Mr Shorten in rejecting Mr Morrison's characterization.
