The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is the new way of providing support for Australians with disability, their families and carers. It is considered to be the second biggest health care program in Australia, after Medicare.
The aim of this program is to support people with disability to build skills and capability so they can participate in the community and employment.
In order to understand the services provided by this scheme, the conditions that must be met and the different types of disability covered by this scheme, Barda Katieh spoke to Mr. Kassem Abboud , the coordinator of NDIS in Uniting Parramatta.
