Newly-sworn-in Liberal senator Jim Molan (MOLE-un) is defending the posting of anti-Muslim clips from a far-right British group on his Facebook page.

Senator Molan, who was sworn into parliament on Monday (feb 5), posted the videos in March last year.

One of the videos apparently shows Muslim men attacking a police car in Europe.

Senator Molan was chief of operations for the Coalition forces during the Iraq war, and has in recent times helped develop the Coalition's current border policies.

He's told the A-B-C he shared the videos because he was struck by the violence, not the anti-Islamic message.
