Detailed news bulletin of the morning

The number of people who've signed an online petition opposing a plan to advertise The Everest horse race on the sails of the Sydney Opera House continues to grow with the number moving into the hundreds of thousands.

The New South Wales Government plans to beam Everest jockey numbers and colours onto the Opera House sails during Tuesday's barrier draw for the 13-million dollar race.

An online petition against it has already attracted more than 230,000 signatures.

New South Wales premier Gladys Berejiklian denies caving in to industry pressure to allow the advertising when the Opera House management had opposed it.
