Papua New Guinean police have begun an operation to clear out hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers from the Australian detention centre on Manus Island. The centre has been closed for more than three weeks following a PNG Supreme Court finding that it was unconstitutional. Almost 400 men have refused to move to recently built transit centres in Lorengau, citing fears for their safety outside the detention centre. Immigration Minister Peter Dutton has told Sky News the police operation is underway.
