Prime Minister Scott Morrison will use his presence at the G-7 summit to push for more action against terrorist and other violent extremist material on social media.

Mr Morrison is at the G-7 meeting in France as an invitee of French president Emmanuel Macron.

On the sidelines of the summit, he'll meet with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe about the matter. Mr Morrison says he will also raise it during a session on the topic of digital transformation.

"which changes the lives of people all around the world. It's great for our economies, it's tremendous but at the same time in the hands of terrorists and in the hands of those who seek to do others harm it can be quite a weapon and it's very important that we ensure that the rules that apply in the physical world apply in the digital world as well."

The Prime Minister is also expected to meet British and Indian conterparts Boris Johnson and Narendra modi, as well as U-S president Donald Trump.
