Recycling crisis in Perth

Recycling materials

Source: SBS

Some parts of the city of Perth, west Australia, are facing a crisis over the disposal of recycled materials after China declined earlier this year to buy these materials due to high pollution.

Although the state government has refused to announce areas affected by the crisis, press reports have identified Wanneroo, Armadale and Joondalup as part of the affected districts

What are the repercussions of this crisis on the future of recycling in the country? Will Australia face a waste crisis as some developing countries?

Environmentalist and lecturer at the University of West Sydney, Dr. Jamal Rizk,  explains causes of the crisis
