Prime Minister Scott Morrison is set to offer state and territory leaders an extra $1.25 billion for health services at today's Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting.
The $1.25 billion Community Health and Hospitals Program will fund projects and services across the country, including rural hospitals, cancer treatment facilities, and mental health services.
The COAG meeting, Mr Morrison's first since becoming Prime Minister, will also focus on education, infrastructure and immigration issues.
Mr Morrison last month said he wants states and territories to have a more active role in determining the national immigration intake, and has reportedly asked them to determine the areas they want new migrants to go.
Liberal M-P Andrew Hastie has told Sky News he thinks more input from the states is a good idea.
