The Coalition's primary vote has risen in the first Newspoll of the year, but Labor remains in front.
The poll, published in the Australian newspaper, reports support for Prime Minister Scott Morrison's government has risen by two points. Bill Shorten-led Labor is ahead in the two-party preferred vote 53 to 47.
The poll, conducted between the 24th and 26th of January, is based on a survey of just over 16,000 Australian voters.
