Setrak Sarkissian is a Lebanese tabla player of Armenian descent . He has won numerous awards in the Middle East and in Europe for his valuable contributions to both traditional and modern Arabic music. His compositions and arrangements have been featuredon over 50 recordings and movie soundtracks. Sarkissian began touring with the dancer Nadia Gamal in 1958, performing with her until 1962, when he began playing with Samira Toufik. Sarkissian performed with the giants of Arabic songs, including Fairouz, Mohammad Abdelwahab, Om Koulsoum, Warda, Sabah, Farid Al-Atrash, Abdelhalim Hafez and others.Setrak Sarkissian passed away on February 21 , 2017 in Beirut, Lebanon.
