Victoria police described "unacceptable and disrespectful" the behavior of participants in Christmas celebrations yesterday at St Kilda beach, which turned the place into a yard full of garbage and scattered glass.
Police had to ask for backup to control the party, which was attended by 5,000 people and authorities arrested three people on charges of drunkenness in a public place
St Kilda council has been forced to take exceptional measures, such as closing roads around the beach and inspecting beach travelers' bags to prevent alcohol from entering
