Michael Mohammed Ahmad wrote The Tribe "to counteract the limited and simplistic representation that Arab-Australian Muslim communities of Western Sydney have received to date, and to offer a broader, more intimate understanding." Bani Adam, performed by the extraordinary Hazem Shammas, is the eyes and ears of The Tribe. It is through his memories as a small boy, growing up in a young country, that we are invited to listen to this poignant Arab-Australian story in the intimate setting of a backyard. In this interview Hazem Shammas speaks to Saleh Saqqaf about the play and " Bani Adam " character
