The federal government's defence policy paper is to be unveiled tomorrow. (thurs) The white paper will outline major acquisitions including new warships and a number of offshore patrol vessels. The Coalition says it will support former Prime Minister Tony Abbott's previous commitment to spend more than two per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) on defence by the year 2024. Labor is adopting a cautious approach to the strategy document, saying more details are needed before any support is offered.
