It is a sacred place to the Australian Indigenous people from Pitjantjatjara Anangu tribes, and is listed on the UNESCO's World Heritage Site.
Uluru is an Aboriginal name while Ayers Rock was given to it by the eplorer William Gosse who spotted it in 1873 and named it after South Australias Premier Sir Henry Ayers.
