Uluru or Ayers Rock is one of Australias most recognizable natural landmarks. It is a huge rock, as big as a mountain, located about 450 Km south west of Alice Springs, at 863 m above the sea level. The rocks size is 2.4 km by 1.6 km and 335 m height.

It is a sacred place to the Australian Indigenous people from Pitjantjatjara Anangu tribes, and is listed on the UNESCO's World Heritage Site.

Uluru is an Aboriginal name while Ayers Rock was given to it by the eplorer William Gosse who spotted it in 1873 and named it after South Australias Premier Sir Henry Ayers.
